Registering for the Exams Officer Professional Standards

The senior leader responsible for examinations/assessments within a centre, or the exams officer's line manager, should register their exams officer for the Exams Officer Professional Standards each academic year by visiting this page of the Senior Leader and Line Manager Exam Support website.

However, following feedback from exams officers, access to this website can now also be acquired by an exams officer who can now create an account on behalf of their senior leader/exams officer.

Once access to the website has been acquired, a senior leader or exams officer can complete the registration form, following which an email will be sent to the exams officer and senior leader/line manager confirming registration and detailing how the standards can be achieved and how a certificate can be obtained.

Achieving the Exams Officer Professional Standards

The exams officer and senior leader/line manager should meet to set targets and sign the Values and Attributes statement. This statement confirms a commitment to maintain the integrity and security of the examination system within the centre.

Targets should be based around Knowledge and Understanding and the Key Skills required to effectively perform the exam officer role.

The Exams Officer Professional Standards Tracker page includes a list of suggested areas relating to the Key Skills, Knowledge and Understanding for each exams officer.

Regular meetings should take place where progress against targets is identified and recorded, and, if required, additional support arranged to ensure that all targets are achieved.

The progress made in relation to Key Skills, Knowledge and Understanding can also be recorded within the Tracker on the Senior Leader and Line Manager Exam Support website.

Claiming the Exams Officer Professional Standards certificate

Once the senior leader/line manager is satisfied that all targets have been achieved, they can claim certification by confirming completion in all three key areas (Knowledge and Understanding, Key Skills and Values and Attributes statement) via the Tracker within the Senior Leader and Line Manager Exam Support website.
